CONGRATULATIONS to David Bradford, Lufkin Highgraduate son of MR. and MRS. J. L. BRADFORD. David has just received word that he has been accepted for an appointment to the U. S. Naval Academy at .Annapolis. His many, many friends are delighted to see David get this appointment as he is really afine fellow the summer warmth has been bringing quite a fewmothers and their youngsters to poolside at Lufkin Country Club.JEANE Me VICK ER and son ROBERT, MYRNA WINSTON and son DARAC and JOY FREDERICK and her crew were all there soaking up the sun over the weekend and having lunch at poolside while the kids were swimming. It is a great place to beat the heat. Quite a large crowd was on hand for the Golf Tournament that saw BUBBA SHANDS take the top honors. He beat out CHARLES FREDRICK for first place, while Charlie came in second followed by RALPH ZELESKY in third. SFA golfer JIM TODD was last year's winner of the same tourney, but he didn't fare too well this time. Todd is an excellent golfer who has really come a long way since he began to play at the Country Club as a youngster. Just some days you are lucky and other days you should stay in bed. This past weekend all the luck belonged to Bubba Shands.
