Among those who lie sleeping in our cemeteries is one who fought for the independence of his country, and others who valiantly battled and suffered in 1812 to retain posession of what we had won in land in the struggle for independence. Many are there who sacrificed their lives to maintain the integrity of the union and their number underground is rapidly increasing with each succeeding year. To the list have been added a number who gave their lives to their country in the cause of humanity. In all of the deadly wars our country has known, citizens of all nationalities and religious creeds have fought side by side for a common purpose and without a thought as to such differences. While their battle grounds were one, many of them sleep in burial grounds that represent a particular religious faith
