Nearly or j fjjfoquite every township in the County was more or less largely represented, and the j*most excellent spir*t prevailed. It was a m most emphatic demonstration of loyalty andpatriotism. It would have made the hearts otof the “bully boys” of the 55th, leap within it!them, to have been present on the occasion.! Slt;The meeting was called together by theaNorwalk Union Band, which discoursed excellent music, and by eight o’clock Whittlesey llall was crowded to its utmost capacitywith ladies and gentlemen.The soiled, tattered, and battle-scarredcolojrs of the 55th Ohio, a banner and regimental tlag, were brought into the Hall andatlnfrpoJin the sight of all the people assembled.The large assemblage was called to orderistated, by«r -PunTAoalt.
