G Williams of the 6th Battalion, 8th Artillrey, has been named winner of the outs land i n« enlisted serviceman competition in the E-4 through j E-6 class. ’ ;After being named a winner, he offered advice to other aspi 1 rants: “Try to keep abreast of current events and know as much about your job as humanly possible.. The contest, in connection, I »i with Armed Forces Day, wa,^ to , select the area's outstanding serviceman in each of three en-; listed categories. Ft Carson, Ent Air Force Base and the Air Force Academy chose one man I from each category to be its representative Of the three eventual winners, two were from Ft Carson Williams was the Soldier of the Quarter for his unit earlier In November, he attended NCO Academy at Ft. Riley, Kan. There he received two of the five available awards.The second Ft Carson winner was Pfc. Gerald Post who won in the E-l through E-3 category Post, a native of Columbus, Ohio, played two years o( pro-Sessional ba-eball with a Clfve land Indians' farm club before being called to active duty, j He has been involved in numerous community activities including directing the March of Dimes of Muskingum College in New Concord.
