An estimated eight to 10 thous and persons converged on Wilming ton Saturday as the Army and the Air Force combined forces in an Armed Forces Day observance that was the finest in Clinton Coun ty’s history. At the NIKE Battery it was also dedication day and following brief ceremonies the visitors were per mitted to tour the intricate instal lation. They viewed the radar con trol, fire control, the missiles and the mechanisms that launch the missiles. At Clinton County Air Force Base one of the high points was a series of ‘flyovers’ by the ‘“‘cen tury” jet fighters. Static displays were centers of interest as the visitors swarmed through the C-119, the KC-97 and the KC-135. A parachute drop was cancelled because of high winds. A refueling-in-air flyover was accom plished. Youngsters received certificates after they made miniature ‘“‘para chute drops” from a novel rigging set up on the grounds. Paula Jane, Cincinnati TV per sonality was officially crowned Armed Forces Day queen and pre sided at a luncheon for special guests. Charles P. Taft, Cincinnati councilman, was one of the fea tured speakers. The observance closed with a formal retreat ceremony at 5 p. m. AT NIKE—Lt. Col. Charles R. Arvin at microphone; Col.
