Caldwell, of 142 North Kansas street, departed last night for New Orleans, where he will take a boat for Liverpool, England, and will there enter the English navy.He received a communication from an English agent some weeks ago offering him a position on board one of the big English warship?.Mr. Caldwell decided this week to get into the game.Next week he will take passage rn a boat loaded with English supplies, mostly cavalry horses. When he arrives in Liverpool, he will be assigned to a warship, which will be in the fighting zone.He will be a chief gunner on boardthe ship on account of the experience he received while in the United States navy for four years, and was a member of the gun crew on board the warship Helena, one of the large U.S, fighting boats.He was released from the navy four years ago and since that time has been making his home in Ed-wardsville. While in the IT. ?. navy, Mr. Cold well made a trip around the world, and became acquainted with many of the sea ports.He will receive a salary of S3 a day from the English for operating one of the big guns. The hours for working are very short, but one is constantly in danger. He will be sent immediately to the war zone.Coidwell has many friends in Edwards v ill© who wish him a safe and speedy return.
