Soldier killed in Iraq will beburied inGrantsvilleStaff Sgt. Thor Ingraham carried on family tradition by serving his countryJENNIFER RALEYTIMES-NEWS STAFF WRITERGRANTSVILLE — On Saturday, which is Armed Forces Day, 24-year-old Staff Sgt. Thor Ingraham, who died while defending his country in Iraq, will beburied with full military honors next to his grandfather and great-grandfather in the family’s plot at Grantsville Cemetery.“He has a long line of military service — his grandparents were in the service, his mother and dad were both in the service,” said Ingraham’s uncle Bill Durst of Grantsville. “He made staff sergeant in less than five years, which is an indication of how well the Army suited him and how well he suited the Army.”Ingraham, a member of the 1st Battalion, 506 Infantry Regiment, was killed in al-Khalidiyah, al-Anbar Province on May 8 when an explosive device was detonated near his Humvee, said Durst.Ingraham, who attended high school in Murrysville, Pa., spent a great deal of time at his uncle’s farm in Grantsville visiting his cousin John Durst, who is two years older and also in the military.“They were very good friends — they got into trouble together, they got out of trouble together, said Bill Durst.Irgraham’s mother and stepfather,Betty Durst and Jeff Orr, live in Grantsville. His father and stepmother,Todd Ingraham and Melissa Ingraham, live in Converse, Texas.“Thor was a very good worker — he’d try anything you asked him to try, and when things would get tough, he'd look at you sideways with a crooked grin and ieverything would just lift — I imagine he lt;was that way with his soldiers, too,” said *Bill Durst. IIngraham’s cousin Daniel Roebuck of Burbank, Calif., said, “ He really enjoyed Ilife.
