Hines Creek Air Woman Travels Across EuropeAg School NotesAnother year will see thecompletion of the seven-yearrotation and permit evaluation of the results of this plan of field management on the farm of the School of Agriculture at Fairvlevv.Seven fields are required in this rotation. At F.S.A. each field is fenced separately after grass has been established. Top dressing with grass had made it possible to carry 20 head of cattle on 30 acres of this pasture. The over-all results are already gratifying. The two-year history of one 30-acre field indicates that it is possible to pasture at the rate of 1 % acres per head, and cut a crop of hay on alternate halves of the field annually. This field is divided into four plots, two of which are grazed until the hay has been cut and the aftermath has grown sufficiently for pasturing. The cattle are held on one plots until is it grazed off, then placed on the next, rotating the grazing so that they are feeding always on succulent forage, utilizing the entire 30 acresduring the season.* * *Farm Foreman G. A. Ogston reports that the School is well pleased with the first calves from the new bull in the Aberdeen Angus herd. This animal is of Blackcap Breeding, so that quality is assured. It is expected that some young bulls will be available for purchase after the Little Royal in March. There is no dairy stock (Holstein) for sale at F.S.A. All young stuff is retained to establish a herd that is entirely for the use of the school, until it is large enough to permit sales.A few Yorkshire gilts and boars are available at this time, and more breeding, stock will be for sale later in the year, as there are some litters coming on. The F.S.A. swine herd is being established with sows originating from V.S.A. breeding and that of Lord Rodney, assuring purchasesr of good type swine.Incidentally, a p p 1 i c a ti on s should be filled early. A letter to J. E. Hawker, principal, or D. R. Macpherson, farm manager, will receive prompt attention. Better still, prospective buyers are invited to visit theschool and to look over the stock 2. 1METZ, FRANCE—If Leading Airwoman G. D. (Trudy) Lam-brecht had a penny for every mile she has covered since joining the RCAF in April 1952, she would indulge in some more of her favorite pastime — travelling.Trudy will readily admit that when she lived back home in Hines Creek, in the Peace River district of Alberta, the trip to Edmonton was a big thing. Now, she thinks nothing of dashing off to London or Vienna. This is not too difficult since LAW Lambrecht is stationed here at the Canadian Air Division Headquarters.A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lambrecht# who still live at Hines Creek# Trudy took to travel like the proverbial duck to water. From the time she joined the Air Force, an overseas posting has appealed to Trudy as she is of German ancestry and both speaks and understands the language. Also, several brothers who served overseas during the Second World War were sure she would enjoy the experience.LAW Lambrecht arrived on the Continent in July of 1954 and in less than a year has gone on organised tours as well as informal holiday jaunts to Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, Australia, and, most recently, London. Switzerland is her favorite with Garmisch, a German resort town, a close second. In Switzerland# she found evenings at the chalets especially pleasant with the lilting waltzes# Swiss yodellers and bellringers. The air in Germany LAW Lambrecht claims is ''intoxicating and she found the spaghetti in Italy filling to say the least. Due to the time of her visit, Trudy considered the Isle of Capri and the city of Vienna disappointing insofar as scenery was concerned and would like to return during the summer. But the wonderful old world service and low hotel rates encountered in Vienna more than made up for the fact that the Danube WASN’T blue.Shopping for clothes—that universal feminine delight— rates high with LAW Lambrecht and she advises that in Munich, Germany and London, England, good styles accompany reasona-able price tags. Just how much territory she will cover before returning to Canada next summer when her overseas engagement expires is a moot point. However, those faraway places with strange sounding names are still calling—and Trudy is the
