aSSSBgfea££^l4-Jaco# AbiCKR.—We noticed In oiir last issue the death of Jacob Acker, He died at the residence of his sister Mrs. Morris, Ilorvey county, Kansas, April 27th. At the commencement of the late war, he early took the Held as a member of that gallant band of sol* diers which so often received the plaudits of General Ashby, the Brock’s Gap Rifles,* Capt. Winfield, and till the close of the war was a dashing, held, and aggressive soldier. Possessed of remarkable strength and healthful organization, he was a most dangerous combatant to contend with in a hand to hand encounter, and that he never scrupled to engage in close quarters was shown by the sabre wounds which he carried upon his body, fie was a mark, too, for the bullet, and was shot, we believe, several times In battle. He leaves many frier: ds to lament him. The fellow.soldiere with whom he charged,carrying terror and death into the ranks of the enemy
