Herman E. FiichtrOIL CITY - Herman Emil Fischer, 77, of Cranberry RD 1, died at 1:05 p.m. Monday in Grandview Extendicare in Franklin following an extended illness.He was born in Oil City June 12, 1904, a son of Charles G. and Katherine AUinger Fischer.Mr. Fischer had been a resident of Cranberry RD 1 since September 1981 and prior to that, had lived in Hill City for 45 years.He had an assortment of Jobs in the oil fields, working for National Transit Co. and Oilwell, and also did construction work.Mr. Fischer was married to the former Frances L. Pritchard who preceded him in death March 14, 1957.Surviving are two sons, Vernon L. Fischer of Cranberry and Norman E. Fischer of State College; four daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Joann) Beary and Mrs. Ronald (Constance) Dloniak, both of Oil City, Mrs. Quenton (Lois Ann) Van-Dyke of Henry's Bend and Mrs. Joseph (Carol) Polenta of Erie; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Louise Borthwick, Mrs. Vernon (Katherine) Stivanson and Mrs. Dorothy Pearson, all of Oil City, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Summerville of Sonoma, Calif., and Mrs. James (Alyce) Dodge of Helena, Mont.Mr. Fischer was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Fischer.Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Louis H. OseniderFuneral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Jones, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating.Interment will follow in BethelCemetery.The family suggests that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations be made to a charity of one’s choice or the Salvation Army.Mrs. Beatrice ScullenMrs. Beatrice Scullen, 85, of 268 N. Beverly Ave., Youngstown, Ohio, an Oil City native and widow of Ourten B. Scullen, died Tuesday, May 11, in her home.She was born in Oil City July 13, 1896, a daughter of John Joseph and Mary Ellen Hynes Connor.Mrs. Scullen was married Oct. 18, 1928, to Ourten B. Scullen who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1972.Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Loretta Sturm, with whom she made her home; three sons, Ourten B. Scullen Jr. of Youngstown, Ohio, and Joseph Scullen and James E. Scullen, both of Campbell, Ohio; seven grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and a brother, Edward J. Connor of Austintown,Ohio.Funeral services were conducted in Youngstown.
