Oliver (Frog) Kirby, 35, whose wife and 5-year-old daugh- j ter, Sandra Gayle, reside in Goldsboro, is serving with the 281st engineers combat battalion in the 3rd Army in Germany.Sergeant Kirby entered training In January 1944 and left for overseas duty In November, following training at Ft. Sill, Okla.. and Camp Butner, N. C. He was first stationed in England, and w’ent into action in France.In a recent letter to his wife hp stated he was staying in houses which the Germans had evacuated.Sergeant Kirby is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Kirby of Abilene. Before entering service, he was employed by J, D. Henderson, building contractor.
