Twin Falls, has received a battlefield commission, according to word received by relatives here, Including Charles Russell, his uncle.He has been promoted from staff sergeant to the rank of second lieutenant. The appointment was made effective April 11.Lieutenant Wheatcroft, who was on ployed by the Royal Bakery here before his Induction into the service, participated in the Normandy, France, northern France and Germany campaigns,In each one of these campaigns, he was decorated with a bronze star medal. He was wounded Aug. 8, 1944, when his tank was blown up by the Germans near St. Lo, France, and later he was awarded the purple heart.He has acted as tank driver, tank commander and platoon sergeant. He served with the third army, then with the first army and now in the 709th tank battalion of the ninth army somewhere in Germany.His mother, Mrs. Glen Wheatcroft, now lives at Redwing, Minn.Po:0 '€ aPc;tl1 ti oat:tiFvaeeciiaate\cV\
