Staff Correspondent)WITH THE AMERICAN ARMY IN FRANCE, May 14 (9 a. m.)—'The American patrol which was last reported to have “gone out” on the Luneville sector following the night fighting at an enemy strong point, returned to the scene of the engagement looking for missing Americans.A party of Germans was encountered and there was a sharp fight.When the patrol returned, one man was found to be missing. Three American snipers, dressed in camouflage suits, went out but could not resist the temptation to open fire when they saw a German officer standing beside a strong post.Clearing weather on Monday afternoon brought the first aerial activity on the Toul front for several days.
