Rogers, one hundred good fighting men in all, left here this morning for the scene of the lute Indian troubles on Cheyenne river and in Red Canon. They are efllcient officers and will make it lively for the Indians if they have an opportunity. This little expedition will also oflbrd safety to people going to the Black Hills. Capt. Egan expects to be gone about three weeks. Lieut. Robertson, of the Oth Infantry, also accompanies the command, and also Acting Assistant Burgeon Pot toys.Accidentally Drowned.(Special Telegram lo Tub Lkadkr.JFort Laramie, May 7.Jno. McGregor, First Sergeant of Co. K, Capt. Egan, Second Cavalry, was accidentally drowned while out with two men tr»ing to find deserters, today. lie was crossing the Laramie river and h*s horse became frightened or ugly, and when nearly across, all control over him was lost. The maddened animal turned back into the river, got into deep water, and was swept down by a strong current.McGregor was an excellent man ; war with Capt. Egan in his recent charge made through Crazy Horse’s ▼Jllugc. He leaves a wife and two children, and was a member of the Capitol Lodge of Masons, of Omaha.
