Carcione.Army Honors Cambridge SoldierWho Died in Combat in VietnamHeart were presented posthumously Tuesday afternoon to the parents of a Cambridge serviceman who gave his life in Vietnam.Mr. and Mrs Charles Wayt, 911 Clark St., received the two medals at their home for their late son. Sp-4 Charles M. Wayt who was killed in action Feb. 15 while serving in Vietnam.The Bronze Star, with “V” device for valor, and the Purple Heart, were awarded Mr. and Mrs. Wayt by Major Lawrence D. Carcione of Wheeling, W. Va.The citation accompanying the Bronze Star read:Purple1 Sp-4 Wayt’s command was on| When he detected activity infront of him, he halted the com-a search and destroy mission near Thi Tinh. Sp-4 Wayt volunteered to serve as point man leading the company through dense jungle.Six Indicted By Noble Grand Jurypany and went forward to investigate. A mine exploded killing him.Spec-4 Wayt was instrumental in saving the lives of many comrades. For this he is awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with “V” devise for valor.The 19-year-old serviceman had been in Vietnam since June, 1966, serving with the U.S. First Infantry Division which had taken part in Operation Cedar Falls in the Iron Tri-Charges ranging from non- angle area in Vietnam.support to assault with a deadlyweapon brought indictments against six persons Monday by the Noble County grand jury.Criminal indictments aeainstHe enlisted in the Army following his graduation from Cambridge High School in June, 1965.
