Col. Murray A. Bywater, com mander, 22nd Air Division, CCAFB; Col. Clifford J. Moore Jr., Base commander, CCAFB; and Lt. Col. Charles R. Arvin, commander, 5th Missile Battalion, Nike Battery, jointly announced plans today for a gala celebration at Clinton County Air Force Base and the 5th Missile Battalion, Nike Battery, on Saturday, May 21. Thousands of Ohioans are ex pected to participate in one of the largest Armed Forces Day festivi ties ever held in this area. Gates will open to the public at 10 a. m. at both the Air Base and the new Wilmington Nike Battery. Highlight of activities scheduled at the Nike Battery are dedication ceremonies to be held at 11:30 a. m., with many high-ranking mili tary and civilian personages in at tendance. The dedication cere monies on this date will mold an other important link in our coun try’s defense picture. After the Nike Battery dedica tion, the scene will shift to CCAFB, where one of the first of the day’s events will be the crowning of Miss Paula Jane, WCPO-TV per sonality, as ‘‘Queen of Armed Forces Day.” As queen, Paula Jane will reign over the many ex citing programs planned through out the day. AS A GUEST of CCAFB, local citizens will view fly-overs of some of the most modern jet fighter and bomber aircraft in operation to day and inspect static ground dis plays of all types of aircraft, mis siles and equipment, such as com munications and transportation, required to maintain and operate an Air Force unit. In addition, oth er services and industrial firms will have displays on hand to dem onstrate their part in this nation’s defense effort. The public is invited to attend the many exciting programs plan ned at CCAFB and the NIKE Bat tery on Armed Forces Day May 21st, and both units sincerely hope that you will be in attendance dur ing their display of the theme, “POWER FOR PEACE.” COL.
