^SON HERALD. JEFFERSON. IC■ vVBRONZE STAR MEDAL FOR HEROIC ACTUMr. and Mrs. Noah Thompsor Grand Junction last week rece: the bronze star medal which been awarded their son. First Li Oliver J. Thompson, and with medal, they received the follov letter:“First Lieut. Oliver J. Thomp 052076G, field artillery United St; army, for heroic services in e nod ion with military operat: against the enemy on Leyte Nov. 5, 1944. First Lieutei:Thompson, artillery forward ob ver, left a covered posifion w our infantry was pinned down machined gun and small arms : to crawl forward 50 yards thro an exposed area under enemy iir obtain observation.“He then delivered heavy artil fire on the Japanese positions. / result of First Lieutenant Thoi son’s heroic action, the enemy i fcred heavy casualties and the l'antry was able to advance yards and capture its objective, command of Major General Bi ley, C. M. White Jr., colonel, C chief of stall.”
