Monroe County Parental AwardGoes to James Kings of MadisonFive Sons Are Graduates of Kirksville State Teavhers College, Four of Them Coaches; Ceremony at Baptist ChurchM2P.r,_s9N’ Mo Ma* 9—OP)—James A, and Pearl Forsythe King of Madison are the recipients. of the Kate Nolen parental County m annually to the most outstanding parents in Monroereceived the award in ceremonies last night at the Madison Baptist Church, attended by four of their five sons and their families.The award is made from a fundestablished by Olliver W. Nolen, Paris attorney, in memory of his mother.Believing that outstanding characteristics in sons and daughters are due largely to parental influence and rearing, Nolen made good citizenship, character and the achievements of their children the basis of the award. Selection by 3 Mayors Names of such parents, whose children must .number at lleast three, are submitted by the public. The final selection is made by,the mayors of Monroe City, Paris and Madison.-The Kings’ five sons, Boyd King, III, Leonard King, Ralph King, Gerald King and'-Kenneth King — all arc graduates ' of Kirksville State Teachers College, and four are or have been athletic coaches.All are married and none smokes or drinks.
