sdnd►rtoRegimental Band Director Resigns Post at FairfieldFairfield. Ia., May 9.—Trof. Leopold Schmidt, who for seven years has boon director of the 133rd Regimental Band of this city has resigned his position and is leaving earlythis week with his wife and their two children for Houston, Texas, where they will locate, and where Prof. Schmidt enjoys a wide reputation as a band leader of the higher class bands He is also an accomplished musician on the violin having studied under some of the best master of the old world.He has on three different occasionsbecome the leader of bands in Fair* field, first taking charge of the Fairfield City band in 1912. Each time he has returned to Fairfield after being sought out by the band organization and requested earnestly to return. Gifts and messages and flowers were showered upon Mrs.Angstead during the day.Mrs. Angstead was born in Jefferson county and has spent all of her life thus far here. She is the widow of the late H. S. Angstead. a Civil war veteran. She ha* ten children, the six residing In Fairfield beingwith her on her birthday. The children are. J. K., Robert. William. Ray- j mond and Harold, and Mrs. Harriett Green, all of Fairfield; Floyd and Mrs. Palsy Pierson of Peoria, 111.; Mrs. Myrtle Van Pyke of Canton, 111.* and Clyde of Seattle.
