Lieut. Summers Being Treated For PneumoniaFirst Lieut. Joseph R Sum* mers. serving with the 15th IT. S. Army air foree in the Italy theater of operations, is ill with pneumonia at a hospital near the air base there, his parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Summers, of Ardon had been informed.Lieut. Summers was taken ill while on the last of his scheduled missions and sorties and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, his letter stated. He was improving satisfactorily, he wrote.Lieut. Summers was attached to the 464th Bomb group and with others in that group had enjoyed a week's leave at the Riviera in France in April.
