Alert America Exhibit Draws 4,832 StudentsNearly 5,000 students of the Greater Phoenix school area thronged the opening day’s free showing of the Alert America ex-hibit at the state fairground Monday in the greatest outpouring*of youngsters for a single day for the entire tour of the display to date.Paul Ellison, manager of the Valley Forge Foundation convoy, which brought the exhibit to Phoenix in 10 huge trucks, said all attendance records were broken by the 4,832 school students who viewed the display between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday.“Cities much larger than Phoenix never even approached the Phoenix turnout Monday,” Ellison said.HE DECLARED the opening day’s crowd here was “the best handled I have observed on this tour.”The Phoenix children, he said, were well behaved and orderly. No one was injured in the rush of the boys and girls to get to the exhibits in the industrial building. Two small girls were on the verge of fainting but were quickly revived.The exhibit’s grand opening was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday with Barry M. Gold water, general chairman in .charge of arrangements for the exhibit here, acting as master of ceremonies.HE HADE several introductions, Including city officials and prominent Phoenicians, and city and county civil defense directors who were in Phoenix for a statewide meeting.Additional thousands of students, from the seventh grade through high school, will visit the display Tuesday and Wednesday.
