The Air Force has assigned Col James Smyrl, the controversial! Lackland AFB officer, to Headquarters, Strategic Air Command,! Offutt AFB, Omaha, Neb.; Col. Smyrl will become deputy chief of military personnel there. He is scheduled to leave Lackland AFB not later than next Friday, the base office of public information said Saturday. J| Col. Smyrl successfully pleaded! his case last week before Air Sec-! retary James H. Douglas, who overruled a general officers board recommendation that Smyrl was unsuitable for further Air Force service.I-
