11I))IIIrI5IIfIJHighland Township Gold Star Mother Goes Monday to Son’s Grave in FranceMrs. S. B. Mansfield of Highland township will leave Monday for New York to join the pilgrimage of Gold Star Mothers to France to visit the graves of their sons who lost their lives in the World War.Mrs. Mansfield is the mother of Roma W. Mansfield, Private in Battery B, 76th Field Artillery, who is buried in Meuse-Argonne cemetery. He was wounded on the night of Oct. 3, 1918, and died the next day in a mobile hospital.Zoma Mansfield, a brother of Roma, also was overseas in the machine gun anti-aircraft service. He now lives in Highland township.Mrs. Mansfield will sail from New York Wednesday, going from Cherbourg to Paris, and thence to the American cemetery. The trip will include two weeks of sight seeing in Europe, returning to Defiance in about five weeks.Gold Star Mothers, whose sons are buried in European battlefields are eligible to make this trip to Europe either this year or next, at the expense of the Government.The only other Gold Star mother of Defiance county eligible to make the trip is Mrs. Libbie Fockler, Rt. 1, Sherwood, stepmother of Charles H. Fockler, Pvt. 1 cl., Co. H, 101st Inf., buried in Mcuse-Argonne Cemetery. She is not going this year.MRS. S. B.
