Tex. (B-A B47 re- publicljconnaissance bomber exploded ina blinding flash after refueling in flight last night and crashed into a field. Three crewmen parachuted safely before the explosion but a fourth man is missing.The flash was seen as far away as Barksdale Air Force Base at Shreveport, La., 90 miles away.The plane was on a routine reconnaissance mission from LittleRock, Ark., Air Force Base. Air Force spokesmen in Little Rockidentified the three crewmen who bailed out as Maj. Ed Vorak, 37, of Muskogee, Akla., Maj. Russell G. Corvey, 34, of Kirkwood,Mo., and Capt. Frank E. Ora, 33, of Geneva, Ohio.The missing officer was identified as Capt. Robert L. Boucher,32, of St. Joseph, Mo., a navigation instructor who was aboard for a training mission. The B47normally carries a orew of three.Air Force spokesmen at Little Rock said the six-jet bomber apparently went into a roll after refueling in flight and was unable to pull out.
