W-A B47 jet reconnaissance bomber exploded in a blinding flash after refueling in flight last night and crashed into an open field near here. Three crewmen parachuted to safety before the explosion, but the fourth was missing.The flash of the explosion was reported seen as far away as Barksdale Air Force Base at Shreveport, La., 90 miles east.The plane was on a routine reconnaissance mission from Little Rock AFB, Ark Air Force spokesmen in Little Rock identified the three crewmen who bailed out as Maj. B'd Dvorak, 37, of Muskogee, Okla.; Maj. Russell G. Corvey, 34. of Kirkwood, Mo., and Cap':. Frank E. Cox, 33, of Geneva, Ohio.The missing officer was identified as Capt. Robert L. Boucher, 32, of St. Joseph, Mo., a navigator instructor who was aboard for a training mission The B47 normally carries a crew of three.Air Force spokesmen said the six-jet bomber apparently went into a roll after refueling in flight and was unable to pull out. The exact altitude at which the craft exploded was not known.The main part of the wreckageplowed into the ground about 100 yards from the farm home of Mr.and Mrs. C. T. Phillips. Neither | they or their two children werehurt.Mrs, Phillips said the debris burned for several hours. Muddy fields prevented firemen from approaching it with equipment.Stan Robertson of the Pittsburg Fire Department said the missing navigator was believed to haveparachuted from the craft before the explosion.
