Dean Blaylock-Dudley Ives Presumed Deadormerly List-ed as Missing in Action.Relatives of S-Sgt. EdwardDean Blaylock and Lt. Dudley Ives, both previously reported missing, have been notified by the war department that they are presumed to be dead by the department.S-Sgt. Edward Dean Blaylock, son of Mrs. Janie Blaylock of Ingleside, and formerly of this city, after being listed as missing since November 30, 1944, is presumed dead. The adjutant general's department notified Mrs. Blaylock that the official changeof status from missing to killed inaction was arbitrarily set as March 7, 1942.Sgt. Blaylock arrived in the Philippines in April, 1941 after enlisting in the army in February 1941. He was stationed on Cor-regidor with the 60th Coast Artillery when the Japs overran the island. A soldier released from a Japanese prison camp during the Philippine liberation, listed Blaylock as one of eight men kept on Corregidor to operate a power plant after the other prisoners had been moved to prison camps.Mrs. Blaylock heard from her son a few times after he was taken prisoner. The last message was received May 23, 1945 dated a year earlier at Philippine Military' Prison Camp No. 7. Mrs. Blaylock says the messagewas typed, but contained his sig-! nature and that he said his health was good and he had received the package she sent him.Blaylock attended school at the Aransas Pass High School and was an outstanding football player. He is survived by his mother, a sister, Mrs. E. W. Hale; four brothers, Dorace and Lee Blaylock. all of Ingleside; Chole of this city and Dorman of Olney.Li. Ives officially dead after being reported missing jsince April 16, 1944. |Lieut. Ives enlisted for service in March and was was called October 17, 1942. He receivedbasic training at San Antonio and San Angelo and received his wings and comission as second lieutenant at Ellington Field in Houston on July 29, 1943, andwent overseas in December, 1943.vsy- -LIEUT.
