C., March 18.—The government is still paying pensions to forty-one widows of soldiers of the, war of 1812, although 108 years have elapsed, according to the department of the interior. jThere are no longer any soldiers who actually fought in the war of 1812 on the pension rolls, the last one being Hiram Crook, who died in Ava, N. Y., in 1905, having attained the age of 105 years.The oldest of the forty-one widows is Mahala Huff, of Louisa, Ky., who is \104 years old. Her husband was a ! private in a Virginia company of militiamen.Several of the widows live in the middle west. They are:Marion A. Clark, 87 years, Iowa City, la., widow of John B. Clark, private, Capt. McClellan’s company, Massachusetts militia.Martha Critser, 87 years, Nineveh,Ind., widow of Henry Critser, private,Capt.
