A. E. F., France,March 1, 1918.My Dear Mother; Will endeavor tocribble you a few lines in answer to our welcome letters of Jan. 4th, and th. Was more than pleased to hear rom home once more,Many thanks for the handkerchief, j t same in handy. I also got three no re packages One from Chaa. Brad-lel(J. He sent me candy and handkerchiefs. One from Virginia Archer at ’arkersburg. It contained cigarettes, , hewing gum, a knitted sleeveless iweater, a hook “The Hark Star/’ a ox of stationery and a pair of wrist et.s. And I got one from Myrtle ditchell. She sent me a pipe, knitted mod, two cans pipe tobacco, and some ‘hewing gum.I tell you, mother, 1 certainly ameing treated nice. I also got a nice 'ard from Tom Cotton. Also one 'rom a commissioner in Cleveland.Well we had a little snow last even* ng. But It is quite warm. Have been laving rainy weather. We heard they were having some severe cold weath-tr in the U. S.No, mother, f never get the paper. Vfaybe I'll get them all in a bunch*ome day. I wasn't aware that any of he clothes I left at home are still serviceable.I received a letter from Ida Bennett. 3he said she was going to send gome cnltted affairs. That is if we were al-owed to get them.No that wasn’t the Captain Parker [ know. He is Lieutenant Colonel tow. No T did not think to ask James ^alters if he saw or knew of Herbie Kelly. I’ll ask him in my next letter.[ get a letter every week from him ind Wheeler Dew. There is a boy here in the Supply Company from Murray City and a boy in Battalion A from Wei I st on. We trade papers and read one another’s letters. So you see vo learn a little of the world’s news.So Arthur was drafted. Best thing for him. But I guess the family will miss him. Glad to hear that Mattie is getting better. What w'as Hay Windsor in? The army or navy ormarines?Am sending you another souvenir, f thought of you when I saw it. These handkerchiefs only cost five francs. That is a dollar in U. S. But they certainly are a useful souvenir.Well must close. Write often and soon.
