Frank Vincent, Jr., the traveler, has just received from the King of Siam a medal of honor, with accompanying clasp ami ribbon, and a diploma appoin ting him a Knight of the Royal Order of Buspa Mala. The medal is an inch and a half in diameter, of a beautiful dark-ycllov gold, elaborately chased and. embossed, and engraved with insignia and inscriptions peculiar to the order. It is one of the four Siamese decorations which the King wears at all great ceremonies of state. The diploma,‘'surmounted by the royal arms, is engrossed on thiu parchment, in black, red and gold, and the following is a literal translation of this curious document:“Sonul'etch Phra Fa nun indr JTaha Chulaloukorn, Fhra Chula Chom Idas, King of Siam, both northern and southern, nnd all its dependencies, Suzerain of the Laos, Malays, Karenns, Ac.—To all and singular to whom these presents shall come. Know ye, We have thought fit to nominate and appoint Frank Vincent. .Tumor, a Knight of the Order of Buspa -U.R.i V o do by these presents grant unto him the medal called Buspa Mala as a mark of hosor which he shall hold and enjoy henceforth. May the Power which is supreme in the universe keep and guard him, nnd grant him happiness ^^ nty I Given at our palace inChafcrkri_M.Thapra*U at Bangkok, on i rin:i\% ihe Oth day of the waxing moon of the lunar month Mideirmaa the yea? S.,” stand as abbreviations of the Latin title “Rex Siam ensi uni/* a peculiar form of an-no\w cement originated by the King:, and always er-iptoyed in treaties and othei official documents. Mr. Vincent is the first American upon whom the order of Buspa. Mata has been conferred.
