lurners rails Reads Of ActionWar Memories Revived by Legion Story by SeattleTURNERS FALLS—The current issue of the American Legion Weekly under the title of “My Big 'Moment, written by David H. Bunch of Seattle. Wash.* tells of an incident in the battle of Belleau Wood in which Peter Belado, late of Millers Falls and killed during the battle, is the main .character, ' Bunch told of the battalion dig-some 88’s firing directly from the top of the hill above.' With Bunch in the trench were five men. including Belado. A shell screamed down .making a direct hit and. kill-, ing three of the five there. Bunch was buried to his arm-pits. Belado. with bleeding mouth and one legnearly torn off from the,explosion, crawled over and. freed film. Binding Belado's leg with a tourcquet. Bunch began the task of transporting him to the first aid station 000yards away, at the village. As they proceeded on their way being knocked down several times by the terrific concussions o£ the shells.Belado threw a jest at him. Lying across Bunch’s shoulder Belado said. “Ain't it a swell war. Davey? At the first aid station, the doctor told'Bunch that his buddy was dead. 'Now the American Legion Post in Millers Falls is '‘named in the honor pf Belado. He was the son of Mrs. Catherine Belado of Franklin street. Millers'-Falls.•The ^action of the story took place July 19. 1918. In the same battle was Selectipan George F. Martin.
