Wednesday night about 11.30 o’clock, of angina pectoris. He had apparently been in good health and [ a had not been complaining. His sudden death came as a great shock to all who knew him. Earlier in the evening he had attended the movies and was reading at his home when he was suddenly stricken. He died within a comparatively short time, without regain-| ing consciousness.Mr. Kemp wks bom in Frederick, the son of Charles Wesley and Columbia A. (Rhodes) Kemp. Ke received his education in the public schools. At the age of 15 years, he entered the employ of George Shipley, and after being with him a number of years, managed his store, in the capacity of a clerk. There he remained for 21 years. In 1903, be began business for himself by opening a grocery store on North Market street.In 1904 he moved to his later location at the corner of Market and Thirdstreets and became one of the well known and successful business men of Frederick.October'!. 1918, Mr. Kemp sold his grocery business to J. Clark O^nibiss, who was one of Mr. Kemp's clerks.In recent years Mr. Kemp had been a representative-of Je local firm of Dte-trich and GambrilL He was a director of the Fidelity Building and toan Association.In politics, Mr. Kemp was an adherent of the principles of the Democratic party. Fraternally, he was a member of Francis Scott Key Council No. *48, O. U. A. M-, Patriotic Order, Sons of America, and the Knights of the Maccabees and Odd Fellows. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.In 1905, Mr- Kemp was married to Miss Charlotte V. Ely. of this city, a daughter of Isaac Ely. They had one son, 'Allen D. Kemp, now of Hagerstown. Both Mrs. Kemp and their sod survive. He leaves also one sister, Mis. William Hauer, of Baltimore and one [: brother. Robert a/Kemp, this city. ] The funeral will be held from the heme Saturday morning at 10 o'clock with interment in Mt. Olivet ccmetery. Thoms P. Rice is the funeral director.
