FLY AS JAYHAWKS. /Navy to Create Squadron If Enough Kansas University Men EnlistA Jayhawk flying ^ squadron, composed of 75 University of Kansas students, will be created by the , U.S. navy if enough students enlist. The plan is comparable to that used in forming the Missouri Ti-, gers, a squadron which completed ; training several months ago.To further the organization, a brief program with sound movies depicting flight training in the navy will be shown in Fraser theater Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock. Lieut. G. G. Price, officer-in-charge, of the flight selection board in Kansas City, Mo., will be ■ in charge of the program. He will be accompanied by six? men from the naval aviation cadet selection, board of Kansai City.Lieutenant Price bears the wings of a naval aviator. He completed his training at Pensacola in 1930. After a tour of duty in the fleets, he became an instructor at Pensacola. Leaving the service in 1935, Lieutenant Price became a pilot for the American Air Lines. In 1940, he was recommissioned and went on active duty in Kansas City.The movies. “Eyes of the Navy” and “Sailors With Wings,” will be of general interest, and the public is invited. Parents may wish to attend with their sons.The “Flying Jayhawks,” as the new squadron will be known, will receive their basic training here in the midwest before being transferred to either Pensacola or Texas for their advanced work. The squadron will bear the insignia of their school, and those who join will be deferred until June so that they may complete this academic year.i _ - .__
