Matters Pertaining to Uncle Sam's Army.Rev. John Dolphin, of Hastings, Dak,, recently appointed post chaplain, United States array, will, it is understood, be assigned to duty at Ft. fuelling. 'The recruits recently sent to Ft. Custer from St. Paul, for assignment to the First cavalry, will be placed with a view to the equalization of the respective troops at that post, by order- of the department commander.The department commander has authorized a furlough for three months to Private William Davis, Company D, Fifteenth infantry, which the commanding officer at Fort Abraham Lincoln, Dak., is directed to issue.Maj. JohnM. Hamilton, First cavalry. Fort Custer, Mont., lias been authorized by the department commander to avail himself of leave of absence for one month, with permission to apply for an extension of one month, to take etfect April 10.Private Janies B. Evans,Troop B,First cavalry, itas been relieved from special duty in the quartermaster's department at Fort Custer, Mont., and is succeeded by Private William O’Hart, same troop, who has been ordered to report to the post quartermaster.Recruits James Maguire and Martin Murphy, enlisted by the recruiting officer at Fort Missoula. Mont.. are assigned to Companies I, Fifth infantry, and B, Third infantry .respectively. Recruit Maguire will be sent without delay to Fort Keogh, Mont.Commanding officers of all posts in the department of'Dakota have b«;n ordered to invoice to Capt. F. H. Hathaway, assistant quartermaster at the ft. Louis depot, all the uniform trousers of light shade now on hand which cannot be issued to enlisted men.Upon the arrival at Ft. Abraham Lincoln, Dak., of the general service recruits ordered from the recruiting detail at St. Paul, the post commander is directed to forward them to Ft. Yates, Dak., for assignment to the companies of the Twelfth infantry, stationed there.Trumpeter Charles Welcome, light battery D, Fifth artillery, now at B!ort Douglas, Utah, and Private William II. Mullan, Company D, Third infantry, now at Fort Missoula, Mont., have been authorized to euter the army and navy hospital at Hot Springs, Ark., for medical treatment.Under authority from the division commander.General linger has directed the commanding officer of Fort Buford, Dak., to issue a furlough for three months to Private Alfred S. Corporal Dolf was acquitted by the court, while Private Murdick was convicted and mulcted in the sum of $4 ofl; his pay.The following assignments of ord-' nance sergeants have been ordered, to take effect immediately. Charles Gill, from Fort Davis, Tex., to Fort Livingston. La.: Bernard Daly, from Fort Livingston, La., to Jackson Barracks, La.; Joseph Kirby, from Fort Clark. Tex., to Fort Sumter, S. 0.; John liooton, from Fort Sumter, S. C., and report to Lieut. James A. Hutton. Eighth infantry.The following changes in tiie medical department are made: Hospital Steward Heinrich Venneman, U. S. army, has been assigned to duty at Camp Sheridan. Wyo., ami ordered to report by letter to the commanding general of tiie department of Dakota; Hospital Steward Isaiah M. Stanley, now at the new post near Denver, is ordered to report by letter to Gen. Merritt for assignment; Hospital Steward .Mm Moser is assigned to duty at Fort Crawford, Col., aud will report by letter to tiie commanding general of the department of the Missouri: Hospital Steward Henry Muller, now at Fort Du Chesne, Utah, will proceed and take station at Fort Douglas, LTtah, and will report by letter to Geu. Crook, as will also Hospital Steward Hans Schroeder, who has beeu assigned to duty at Fort Niobrara, Neb.
