Navy plane missingSEATTLE (AP) — Helicopter crews scanned the forests south of Mount Rainier National Park today for a twin-engine Navy plane that disappeared with five people•board. ■' * ■ .•;,. ■The plane disappeared from radar screens Monday afternoon, and the Navy presumed it had crashed and its emergency transmitter had been destroyed, said Capt. Charles Griffin, who was leading search efforts from the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center at Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, 111.A ground search was not planned, Griffin said. “This area is covered by 200-foot trees and it would make visibility very short for ground searching,” he said.The five Navy men aboard were based on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier, which has been in drydock at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, said Chief Petty Officer James McDonough of the 13th Naval District in Seattle.
