WASHINGTON, March- 22.—Almost, simultaneously with the announcement from Loudon of the divorce granted to Lord Francis Hope from his wife, who wag, formerly May Yohe, the actress, came the nomination of Major Putnam Bradlee Strong to he lieutenant colonel by brevet for distinguished gallantry In action at Guiguinto, Luzon, March 27, 1899. Major Strong ia at present living in Japan with Lady Francis Hope. It was on account of his liason that Lord Hope obtained the divorce. Major Strong resigned his commission in the army when he left San Francisco last fail for the Orient in company with Laay Hope.
