A Small Potato Affair.Salmon Brown, son of the late John Brown,| of Harper Ferry memory, joined the 9»th Regiment New Vork Volunteers, raised at Platte-burg, and was made ‘21 Lieutenant. Vfter the regiment was sworn in a number of the Lieutenants petitioned their t'olcnel for the removal of Brawn, giving the following reason:H W*. as officers, not wishing to associate with a man having the notoriety that said Brown has in our country, not that we have aught against said Brown, as a man or citizen, but viewing it as a matter of policy, having in view the best interest of the regiment, we do, therefore, petition you. as our commanding officer, to relieve us ot his presence as a member of this regiment. And thereupon Salmon Browu was removed. If that is not a dirty piece of business we know not what is. A true and loyal whiteman removed from the army for the not of hisfather, and that act of the father cause! by a series of outrages in Kansas, made upon him by the slavery power nntil he became a monomaniac. We hope the brunt of no battle will fall upon the Lieutenants of the New Vork l#'lt;th, for if they are afraid of the ghost of John Brown what will they do when they set a live rebel.— Clert. Herald.
