Reichsfuehrer Adolf Hitler returned in triumphant glory as its new leader when he entered Austria at Linz, as pictured in the above radiophoto. Standing in his open car, grim, serious, Hitler received tumultuous welcome from his own countrymen, and immediately proclaimed as fulfilled his dream of Anschluss between Austria and Germany. Thirty thousand goose-stepping Nazi troops preceded Hitlers impressive entry into Austria and the nation abandoned normal activities to proclaim its new “savior.”
