Company E of the 379th infantry regiment, fighting m the 95th division's battle for a bridgehead across the Saar riverfrom Saailautern,was unable to advance because of savage fire from this garrison Kliemchen volunteered to demand Kliemchen surrender.After dark he worked his way toward the fortification, and called rut the surrender demand in Ger-nan. Ten Nazis capitulated.Kliemchen had been awarded the icmbat infantryman badge in May, .944. and is a veteran of campaigns n France, Germany, Belgium andHolland.He formerly was employed at the K u t o Specialties Manufacturing lompany and the Benton Harbor Malleable Industries.
