C.—Orders from th€ war department instructing the entire Iowa National guard to be prepared tomobilize for duty in connection witb the difficulties with Germany have been placed in the hands of the com-manding officers of every militia company in Iowa,The order is exactly the same at that seat out previous to the Mexican border campaign, except that the point of mobilization is not definite. Each commanding officer is instructed to re port to the central division, and re ceive orders where to assemble hli company.The Iowa National guard regiment* have served from six to nine month* on the Mexican border and are wellseasoned troops. They^ are regarded as highly efficient and forming a valuable unit In case armed troops are necessary to protect the interest! o) the United States.Iowa has nearly 5,000 men in the three infantry regiments, tour troop* of cavalry, three batteries of artillery, engineer company at Iowa City, ambulance company at Sioux City and field hospital at Dos Moines,
