Private Belt says that his regiment was the first to reach the Rhine.Corporal-Coite Peaye, son of John Peaye, served with the 8th Illinois. Corporal peaye was also awarded the Croix de Guerre for bravery.* Both of these young men give interesting accounts of^the fierce battles fought.Parents and friends have received news stating that Bogle Kerr, Leon Smoot, Will Brhdshaw, Robt.
