Navy Announces U. S. Freighter It Lost in PacificWashington, March 11. JP)- — '('lie navy announced today that the Matson Navigation company's freighter “Malania in presumed to he lost in the Pacific.The Mai an. a, a 3,275-ton steam vessel, was built in 11# 1 at Newark. N. J., by the Submarine Boat corporation. Her home port was San Francisco.The Malama was the last ship which the navy announced underits old policy of identifying lost, or presumed to he lost vessels by name and tonnage. Hereafter, a policy of withholding Identification of ship- sunk will be followed. the navy announced, although spokesmen said that occasionally, for a short while,names may he given in instances uhere the ^lup^ ha\e hern identified beforehand by other sou rces.
