OBITUARY.SIMPSON DUNLOP.Simpson Dunlop, one of Oak Park’s pioneer residents and the senior member of the firm of Dunlop Bros., bankers, died at his residence, 435 North Kenilworth avenue, Tuesday morning. March 7th. Mr. Dunlop was attacked by the grip about a month ago, which developed finally into typhoid fever. There had been hope for his recovery almost to the last, but a few hours before his death a sudden turn for the worse was apparent and he was soon beyond the aid of a physician.Simpson Dunlop was born in Chicago in 1857, and in 1862 came to Oak Park with his family. He received his edu: cation in the old Oak Ridge (now Oak Park) country school, and finished his studies at Northwestern University. He started in business at the age of 20 in the real-estate business in Chicago, and in 1886 established the bank in Oak Park known as Dunlop Bros.’ bank, Joseph K. Dunlop being the junior member.In 1882 Mr. Dunlop married Olive J. Draper; there were two children, both living—Hannah and Samuel Draper Dunlop. His first wife died in 1889, and in 1890 he married Miss Margaret Rankin; two ohfdren were born of this union- Annie and John Rankin Dunlop. Mr. Dunlop was a member and trustee of the First Congregational church of Oak Park. He was highly respected by his associates and dearly loved by his family and friends. He was a friend to the poor and gave to many charities.Funeral services were held at the family home Thursday morning at 10o’clock. The high esteem with whichMr. Dunlop was regarded by local business men was shown by the closing of all the storey in Oak Park during the hours of the funeral. A very large gathering of friends attended the funeral services. The floral offerings were unusually numerous and beautiful. The pall-bearerg were S, A. Roth-ermel, S. W. Packard, J. T/, Pearson, H. L. Draper, William Einfeldt and Willis S. Herrick. The funeral services were conducted by Dr. J.* E. Roy and Dr. Barton. Interment at Forest Heme cemetery.
