Me. Herbert I. Tomlinson Awarded Bronze Star MedalBUSHNELL GENERAL HOSPITAL. Brigham City, Utah — A Bronze Star medal for meritorious achievement in combat was a-warded recently to Pfc. Herbert J. Tomlinson of Mt. Pleasant. Utah at Bushnell General Hospital. Brigham City, Utah, where he is a patient.Pfc. Tomlinson won the high award for rescuing a wounded man under fire. Despite heavy enemy shelling, which had knocked him unconscious, the Mt. Pleasant infantryman pulled the wounded soldifr 75 yards over exposed ground to the safety of a ditch, despite artillery shells that burst as close as 20 yards fcway ” his citation said.Tomlinson served in Italy with the famous 3rd Division, and was wounded by enemy machine-gun lire on May 23. and then brought to Bushnell for treatment.He is a graduate of the Wasatch academy in Mt. Pleasant, and worked at the Ogden Arsenal; before entering the service.
