J. Chamberlain purchased four of the cows and the male and Will Smerdon purchased one cow. Mr. Chamberlain some time ago spent a week or more at the state dairy farm at Columbia looking over their herd and making a special study of the dairy business and after careful inspection selected these four cows and the male for himself and the other cow for Mr. Smerdon. Mr. Chamberlain already has a fine herd of about forty head of milk stock on his farm, known as the Creamery farm about two miles northeast of Peirce City, and with this last purchase of five head of Holsteips t'i head his^herd here without a doubt he now owns one of the finest and best herds in southwest Missouri and a herd that is a credit to a community and worthy of special notice and praise.
