Pilot Killed in Saugus Plane CrashA small private plane with engine trouble crashed northwest of Saugus yesterday, killing the pilot,The victim was identified as Jack K, Id wig, 38, of Burbank.The aircraft, a World War II Air Force trainer, had taken off from Whiteman, Airpark, : Pacoima.Shortly before noon, residents of San Franclsquito heard the plane having engine trouble.As it nosed down Into the canyon It clipped a power line with Its wheels, flipped on Its back and burst Into flames.' First 1o roach the victim was Andrew Jopson, 45, who, Ironically, worked with Leivfs at General Controls Co, Inf Glendale,Jopson sold the Vultee BT13 crashed about 20!) yards from his homo, five miles northwest of Saugus,He said he ran down to the home of Mrs. Kay H. Hansen, 27, who called the fire and sheriff's departments.
