Correspondence of tbe Conner.From the 91th Regiment.Camp And**wb, Bakbancas, Fla., fFebruary 14,1665. {Friend Courier:We have been here about three week*. There are three forta at this place within .* mile of each otber. Fort Redoubt is about a half mile from our cuip; then a little further down the bay (Pensacola bay) is Fort Barrancas, and across the bay is Fort Pickens, on Santa Rosa Island, all of which are occupied by uegroes of the 25th U. S. C. I. In Redoubt there are two companies, Barrancas three, and in Pickens four. The forts are all being strengthened. Nearly a regiment of negroes are at work on them every day. They are also throwing up a line of rifle pits from fort Redoubt to fort Birrancas and enibrasiers on the forts so as to protect tbe gunners. About three miles below here, at the uuAith of Perdido river, there is an old dismantled fort, Fort McRee, which was in possession of the rebels when they held this place, but it is not held by either side now. Fort Redoubt mounts about thirty guns, Fort Barrancas about the same number, and Fort Pickens two hundred and fifty-one mounted now, bot are preparing to mount one of those large twenty inch guns Lately cast at Pittsburgh, to be used as a pivot gun. Two miles above here is the Warrington Navy Yard, but 1 cannot tell you anything about that as we are not allowed to go into the yard. Nino miles above here is the city of Pensacola. There are a few families there, too old to leave, who raise what they want to eat in Jheir gardens. The rebels cannot go there as we have a gunboat lying off the city all thetime.There are refugees coming in here all tbe lime, aiid they say there is but one company of rebels between here and Montgomery.The rebel Gen. Armstrong is in command of the District buck of here to Mobile.About a week before we got here the negro troops under command of McKean made a raid out to Polland, and on their return were met by the whole garrison from Mobile They bad a short fight, when the rebels had to fall back. They kept pecking away at the rear guard all the way. Our loss was ten killed andtwenty wounded; rebel loss unknown.— Since then there has been no rebels seen about here.The 1st Florida (Union) cavalry has been within twenty miles of Montgomery.Report says that our Brigade is to leave here in a few days. Some think that we are going to Montgomery, and some to Mobile, but we have not received marching orders yet.Our Brigade is camped in the prettiest place that we have been in for some time. We have ornaments of all kinds in front of our tents. We first make itof yellow and then finish it off with white sand, which looks just like snow. We have fine trees planted through our quarters, and in front of Col. Spicely’s tent we have put up a stand for the Brass Band to play from, and evergreens are planted all around it. Gen. Granger said that it was the nicest camp he ever saw. It has been named camp, Andre wain honor of Gen/Andrews, our Brigade Commander. Ue is very religious, and don't allow any drinking or swearing about bis headquarters. He is liked by every person in the Brigade. If a private goes to him and asks a question or for a pass, he will talk to him as quick as he would to an officer. I don’t believe that he was ever out of temper at anything in his li e, for he is always smiling.We are Co. “F” in the 24th Indiana, but that I suppose you h:ive heard belore this. We get along very well with the boya of the 24th. We all like Col. Spiceley, who is in command of tbe regiment. He is a good man, and when ou duty is very strict, sod makes every man come up to the mark. Our field officers are all very well liked, especially Lieut. McClelland, who is acting Adjutant. The old 24th like him better than their old Adjutant, uud say that be is the best officer in the regiment.
