, Letter From France.on*l The following letter was re-was ceived by Mrs. F. C. Clark, from The I her brother in France:'°™ St. Nazarre, France, Jan. 26. n it My Dear Sister: fter As I had about given up hear-^e* ing from you because it takes so nSs long to get mail from home, I UP_ thought maybe you had forgotten the I that I was in France, the You wanted to know in your last letter where all I have been. gh I vviH try and tell some of the dif-hle ferent places I have been maybe:es- the censor won’t cross them out.‘*es I landed at Liverpool on Oct. 8, rt- Went from there to Winchester, sh- England, where I visited the old-3re est cathedral in the world. I will aN tell you all about it when I come 1(f, home. From there we went to nel South Hampsted and was thereith a week. There I saw the roadlve which was built by the Romans at •sd the time of the crucifixion of to Christ, so you see it' was built a 1 4 long time ago. We left there and les went across the English Channel £h to Le Havre, stayed there over !n- night, then took the train and ifd went 150 miles to a town of about m 300,000 inhabitants. We stayed at there 6 days. I with a party of to others visited a tower in Tours, we that Napoleon built so you know )n- it is old. I also saw the bed in )e* which he used to sleep. Then we of went to a town about 300 miles hi- toward the front and was in this lP' town when the armistice was ds signed. It rained 65 days straight Jss over here, so we had to wear our ry hip boots.3e- Three days after the armistice ^ that I was hurt and went to the ■ts hospital, where I remained 3 or 4 weeks. When I come home I to will brine you something nice, but to I don’t know when that will be.!y I don’t think for about a year yet. v* 11 am anxious to get home, for all we have to eat is coffee and beans and beans and coffee. Tell Helen to have a lemon pie made for me when I get there. When we get iQ our pie eat we will take a ride in ie Daddy’s Ford. You ought to see j the Fords” they have over here, also the way the women and girls jt dress, it is somewhat different than in the States.(_ Well, sister, I was in one way, j glad while in the hospital, the ?ed Cross nurses take such good care of you, and it sure seems good [. to lay between sheets. Of all the t different organizations who helped during the war, the Red Cross d | was the best. They were on the job all the time. You write me such long, newsy letters, but the only fault I have •*•to find with them is that you do not write often enough. I am writing in the camp with a maga-t zine on my knee. I must write to g the boys. I am still at my old f trade, engineer on the road. TeU Eva and Helen to write. I must close.
