Salt Lake City, will officiate. Friends may Call at place of funeral Sunday from 3 to 8:30 p. m. and Monday prior to services. Burial will be in Salt Lake City cemetery.Lieutenant Hess was horn in Sibley, Iowa, June 23r 18S9. He resided 18 years in Salt Lake City, and was employed by Inter-State Transit lines.Ho received basic training: with the civilian air patrol at Mather field. CaJ., in September, 1942, and in November was transferred to Wickenburg, Ariz., glider school as a service pilot. In March, he was assigned to Long Beach, C1-, ,and received his commission there last May.Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alice Leigh Hess; three brothers, Matthew Heqs, Clark, S. D., Fred Hess, Chippewa, Wis., and Leo Hess, Slaton, Minn., and a sister, Sister Mary Xavier, Minneapolis, Minn.
