Sturkol has been named Air Mobility Command Journalist,Feature Writer,Commentary Writer and Photojournalist of the Year tor 2007.Selection was based on the individual’s exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement, specific achievements, notable accomplishments and community service and support.In addition, he won second place in the 2007 Air Mobility Command Media Contest, for illustrative phoSturkoltography, and third place in the portrait/personality photograph category, and combat documentation photograph.Sturkol is a public affairs supervisor at the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, Fort Dix, Trenton, N.J. He has served in the military for 16 years.He is the son of David D. and Barbara A. Sturkol of Harrison St., Wakefield, Mich.His wife, Bobbi, is the daughter of Herbert Habersetzer of West Bend, Wis., and Marilyn Giackino of Black River Falls, Wis.Sturkol graduated in 1987 from Wakefield High School, and received an associate degree in 1989 from Gogebic Community College, Ironwood, Mich. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2002 from Park University, Parkville, Mo.
