Kentucky .was not acl-mijted to the union until 17.92.He was married in Kentucky. ■ Thj? name of his wife not obtainable. .Among his children • born Was a daughter, Catherine, w5y married James. T. Hancock, the ceremony being performed . in |‘Washington county, Indiana . In 1860 James Hancock and wife came to Tipton county, locating on a farm in Cicero township. They were the parents of To children, of which Thomas J. ; Hancock. Civil War veteran, f was the fifth member - and around whom this story now ^enters.Ziohenial Jackson, in his declining years very much enfeebled. came (to Tipton county ann made his home with his married daughter and family until his death,Janies Hancock died in 1879;his wife one year j later, EolH are buribd in the Stewart cemetery;Thomas J. Hancock enlisted in the Union army in 1861, but was honorably discharged in November, 1862, on account of general disability. In 1863 he married Mary E. Law and followed farming until 1879, when he located in Tipton and embarked in the real estate business. - They were the parents of 10 children, seven of whom are deceased. Those surviving-are Cora, widow of James Bay, and Charles Hancock, of Indianapolis, and Capitola, wife of E. E. Pritchard, of Tipton.; Thomas J. Hancock died in 1910, age 67, and his wife In 1922/ age 76.
